At first, it sounded possible. Earlier this week, Deadline reported that a Buffy reboot was "nearing a pilot order" at Hulu. This pilot would be directed by Nomadland's Chloé Zhao, written by Nora and Lilla Zuckerman, of Poker Face fame, Sarah Michelle Gellar will be in it, and please note this line, buried halfway down the report:
"Also executive producing the pilot is Dolly Parton whose company Sandollar was producer on the original."
And then, a couple of days later, it started to sound probable. See this Instagram post from Sarah Michelle Gellar herself, who basically said that obviously, everyone has been trying to get her to be Buffy again for ages, and that she's surprised that it might be happening, but they "will only make this show if we know we can do it right."
